Chef for a Day Successes

Winners were treated to an awesome learning experience! Thanks to Johnson & Wales University and Del Monte, classrooms experienced an entertaining and educational visit from a professional Johnson & Wales University (JWU) chef! JWU is a recognized leader in career education. Industry-experienced faculty bring real life experience to undergraduate and graduate degree programs that include hospitality and culinary arts.

Johnson and Wales University Chefs received "ohs" and "ahs" as they impressed students during their Chef for a Day visits. Fun culinary demonstrations were given, cooking and career questions answered, and the winning recipe was prepared with samples for the students to taste! See photos and hear what kids had to say!

Chef Event Quotes

'Chef for the Day was very fun. I’m a teenage boy and I love food. Plus, I got to meet a “big time” chef. On a scale of 1 – 10, I would definitely rate it a 10. THANK YOU!' -- student, Yamhill-Carlton Intermediate School, Yamhill, OR

"Thanks to Healthy Kids Challenge for all the great prizes! My classmates and I had so much fun with the Chef for a Day! We learned a lot of new cool fun things in the kitchen!”  -- Hannah Beh, Ontario Middle School, Ontario, OH

I thought the chef was the best thing that has come to this school in a long time. I thought the flowers out of food were the best part. I loved it! -- student, Yamhill-Carlton Intermediate School, Yamhill, OR
